Microsoft Store (goodbye Windows Marketplace and Digital Locker)

Microsoft pulled the plug from Windows Marketplace and the Digital Locker service (which will shut down at end of August 2009). The Windows Marketplace now refers clients to the new Microsoft Store (for Microsoft software and hardware) and to other online markets like Kagi (for Windows compatible software etc.). Hardware and software partners are given other options to showcase their products across the Microsoft network. The reason for this move? Most probably the Digital Locker concept didn’t get embraced enough by customers and partners.
